Reflectino

Cosentino Design Challenge 2015: space for celebration

In collaboration with Iván Cosgaya, Carlos Beizaga, Fernando del Barrio and Arina Cazan

Space for “Self-lebration”. Visual reflection. Sound reflection. An ephemeral space where everybody can celebrate their own life. An experience that enables you to see yourself, hear yourself, feel that you are you and the only one. The experience of beholding oneself.

Visual reflection: The polished finishing of the pavement and vertical surfaces provide the impression of a multireflected image, causing in the observer a sense of self-importance given that once in this space they will only be able to see and hear nothing but themselves. Furthermore, playing with the different inclination angles of the vertical surfaces creates a distortion of the reflected image.

Acoustic reflection: The flat and hard low porosity surfaces empower the reflection of the acoustic waves, creating the effect of self-made sounds that will surround the visitors and make them feel they are the only one that matter. To achieve this objective the vertical panels have been located within a minimum distance of 3.5m between each other, so that the acoustic wave can bounce back and forth.
